Last weekend saw us do an away round at Cadwell Park. It's good to get away from Brands Hatch and experience somewhere different. We've been to Cadwell for Superbike before and know pretty much what to expect. It's a really good circuit for photography with plenty of variation helped tremendously by the various elevations. The Mountain is of course the most famous part of the track, and worth the trip alone. Josh Brookes is quite phenomenal to watch, getting both wheels several feet off the ground. MX on a road bike is pretty nuts! There are some other cracking corners around the track, Halls bends are particularly photogenic, but my personal fave is still Barn - when the light is right here, it's beautiful. Just a shame the public don't have a good view of it.
The riders we were there for all had good weekends. Tommy Hill is back on form again with a win and a second. Race two was almost certainly going to be another victory if it hadn't been stopped early. Brother Jimmy also had a good second place and looked pretty happy with the day's work. I've not seen it yet, but we've been told there's quite a lot of our shots been used in the local rags, which is nice!
We spent quite a bit of time again following the highs and lows of Alex Gault. It really was a mixed weekend. High siding out of race one and a late night for the guys putting the bike back together for the following day. A broken exhaust brought race two to an early finish so we had everything crossed for race three which was the last race of the day, and Alex's season on the Harley. When he was up into second and setting the fastest lap, we really thought something special was on the cards. It wasn't to be, after falling back to 3rd we were then gutted to see James Webb steal the last podium place away on the very last corner. So very nearly the icing on the cake that, but I know if you'd told Alex he'd finish 4th the day before, he'd have taken it. The BLZBike had plenty of air time on Eurosport so thanks Alex!
We're back to Brands again this weekend for DTM, as the monsters of German touring cars motor into town. The sun should be out, so hopefully we'll get a big crowd in.
