Its the biggest event on the Motocross calendar where the top three riders from each nation compete for the Chamberlain Trophy and the bragging rihts that go with it. The 63rd running of the event saw the return to Italy for the first time in 23 years to a purpose built track at the Autodromo di Franciacorta in the north of the country. With Team USA dominating for the last few years it was a chance for the rest of the world to put themselves up against arguably the best racers in MX to settle which side of the Atlantic has the stronger series. Italy and France were the hot favourites to take the honors against a 'third rate' entry from the US missing both James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto - the stars of last years winning team, and Team GB were in with a chance following the pre-event drama.
